The first day of school
Today was my last first day.
For sixteen years I have enjoyed the excitement of the first day of elementary school. I love watching it all.. from confident sixth graders strutting on to the playground, reveling in the role of the oldest kids in school, to the timid first graders who light up when they see friends from last year. It's great to see the familiar faces in the crowd and the mothers of kindergarteners hiding their tears. But this is my last year. Next year my baby will move on to Middle School.
Who would have thought sixteen years could go so fast?

I tell you what, I never thought I would THINK 37 is NO big deal! HA! Cheers, Julie
So true, Gina.
Someone once told me that when they are very young, the minutes feel like hours but the years feel like seconds. I didn't get it at first but I sure do now.
She's a beauty and I can see that it is both inside and out.
Sending big hugs. Your post is bittersweet. And lovely for it.
I LOVE the quotes on your sidebar. So inspiring.
Good to be here. It's been a while.
Fast is right.
Your daughter and your house both look lovely.
My *baby* is 22 and married. I homeschooled for almost a decade and still can't believe how fast it went by. Fortunately both of our kids live nearby and we have wonderful relationships with them. Sometimes I miss earlier days but adult relationships are wonderful too.
Gina, she is so pretty, your baby!
It hurts, this growing up thing, doesn't it...but then you can't help but be proud at the same time.
