Fritters anyone?

Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!

Og Mandino -

Brilliant isn't it?! You know where I found it? Right here on this blog, hiding in the September 2007 archives. Apparently I didn't follow Og's advice because I find myself here a year later still making the same lists of things to do, merely surviving the days. Frittering.

If life is a journey shouldn't the landscape be changing?

I did do one new and unexpected thing recently, although it's not cause for celebration. I called my mother and told her that I didn't feel well enough to make the 14 hour drive to California. I've been telling her all summer that I would get down there before school started.
I promised.
Last Friday I broke that promise.
She understands.

I don't.

Hugs to you, girl.

I love what you said, by the way: "If life is a journey, shouldn't the landscape be changing?"
That is a bumper sticker saying for sure!

You sound pretty down, so you need to expect nothing of yourself right now and then be thrilled when anything gets done. I'm not kidding. I can tell you are the type that beats yourself up more than anyone around you. I speak from experience. When I'm in a true funk, I lower the bar, stock the freezer with frozen food and make an appt. with the doctor.

Be nice to yourself. This will pass.

So many of life's lessons need to be relearned over and over. I hate it when I get in the middle of yet the same life lesson and it hits me: OH, right, I already learned this lesson!!!

I was worried this post would be about how much you like fritters. I just cannot tolerate fritters!

Thanks guys. For someone who "isn't comfortable complaining" I'm certainly getting good at it.

She understands Gina. You need to give yourself a break.

Hope you're having a good long weekend and you feel better soon.

G- please don't beat yourself up. Everyone goes through these funks. I hope that you'll find a small delight soon and you'll be back on the path to satisfaction...
