Once

I did not see this movie. In fact I don't remember even hearing about it until about a week ago. When I was young and actually knew something about movies I would have been shocked to have never heard of a movie that suddenly everyone is talking about.. oh well, I'm not young anymore. It's supposed to be a very good movie. Reviewers were predicting the sound track would win awards when the movie was first released.
I'm generally not a fan of romance movies, a fact that makes my husband a very happy man indeed, so even if someone had told me to see it when it was in the theater I probably wouldn't have. However, this week Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova played one concert in Seattle so the radio station that I listen to every morning started playing this song... and I fell in love. Now I want to see the movie, and to hear more of their music, and to know all about the real story behind the film story. Isn't it amazing how music can change the way you feel about everything? (or is it just me?)

I know what you mean...music heightens the movie experience, I think. But I haven't heard anything about this movie, at all. Maybe it's because I'm too far away from it all here in Norway. Everything seems to get here much later :(

It's an independant Irish film. I'm not sure how movie distribution works but it looks like it wasn't in the theaters long. We tend to miss out on the unique movies because they are shown in Seattle and it seems too difficult to drive up there just for a movie. (this is a weenie excuse) I read about cool movies and then wait for the dvd.

I have never heard of the movie OR the song. Rob, however, is right next to me and as soon as it started, he said "Oh, is that from that movie ONCE?"
So apparently, I sit with you on the old Weenie bench.

That looks like a great film - well received at Sundance too? I'll look for it. Beautiful song too.

I love this song and I had no idea it was connected to a movie. Let us know how it is if you see it. Thanks for the video clip.
